Testimonial from Steven Goldberg, 1981-1985

The following was an email received from Steven Goldberg on August 18, 2006, in anticipation of the 2006 reunion. I think it says it all:

"Gentlemen from Stratton Lake,

I have been thinking about this upcoming weekend for over 20 years (which is scary, to say). I remember so well, sitting on the bus leaving camp in 1984 and thinking, I hope I get to come back here someday.

Someday is FINALLY here, I could not be more excited. I am really looking forward seeing (or meeting) all of you again and just being able to see good old Camp Waupaca.

I was thinking about Manny, this morning, a rainy cold day, wearing a yellow rain hat on his head and plastic yellow rain coat buttoned all the way to the top, busting in our cabin screaming “EVERYBODY UP IT' ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY AT CAMP WAUPACA”. That was my favorite part of camp; every morning, rain or shine; you could always count on Manny. I wish he was going to be there; I know he will be there in spirit.

I am so excited to be back at Waupaca, a story by the bon fire at the horse shoe, a laker or two; a couple of games of softball (we really should play a game on both the near and far diamonds, just for old time sake), being on the winning relay team and screaming Boil Water Boil, then running into the lake to celebrate again.

Great memories, I look forward to making more with all of you.

All present and accounted for here, I am looking forward to a great weekend; see you next Friday evening.

Have a great week!!!!"
