The Roster Project (updated May 28, 2026)

We have long discussed creating an all encompassing roster of every camper and counselor who ever went to or worked at Camp Waupaca For Boys. The project started in earnest in 2024 and is ongoing. We are currently cleaning up loose ends. This project would not be possible without alumni with very good memories! We're not done yet, but we wanted to share our latest work with you and give you some tools to locate yourself and your friends to see what years you and they were at camp, or maybe even what cabin you were in. In some cases, we could isolate whether a camper was at camp first four weeks, second four weeks, or the entire eight weeks.

Where possible, we have annotated the data with a "source", or where we determined the accuracy of the data. Click the link below titled "Roster Sources" to refer to the sources as you peruse the data.

While working on this data, We had to make some assumptions along the way:

  • It is assumed that everyone attended camp all eight weeks from 1951-1961. There are some exceptions, and we will update our data if we hear a confirmed deviation.
  • Counselors are assumed to have been at camp for the full eight weeks. As we find out discrepancies on this assumption, we will modify the data accordingly.
  • Cabin, staff, and all-camp photos were taken during the first four weeks. By the late 1970s and into the 1980s, cabin photos were also taken during the second four weeks.
  • Tribes was a first four week program only. However we have learned that into the late 1960s it was a 6-7 week program, ending prior to the Blue & White War.
  • Olympics was a first four week program only, except in 1985 when it was in the second four weeks.
  • The Blue & White War was always the last 1-2 weeks of the summer, so a roster with names would represent second four weeks.
