Informal Reunion 1997!

Okay - this reunion was a bust.  We had a signed contract but, due to management turnover problems, Camp Young Judaea, a Hadassah concern, was unable to have us this year.  However, a few diehards DID trek to Waupaca, Wisconsin, to hold our very own reunion.  Those hearty individuals were: Mike Lurie, Warren Metzdorff, Bob Mowen, Paul Warshauer, and Cathy Weasner-Lurie.  A surprise awaited us when we ran into Paul Ringel, with his daughter in tow, at Simpsons Indian Room Restaurant.  Paul had reserved the weekend off for the reunion, and still came up to camp at Hartman's Creek State Park!!

The highlights of the weekend included a clandestine drive through camp, dinner at Simpsons Saturday evening, Warren Metzdorff's "explanation" of his infamous "10,000 campers to swim & ski" comment from the 1996 reunion, and a Warshauer-Lurie Wisconsin Dells trip!

One of the time-honored traditions of Camp Waupaca, especially in the Trail's End yearbook, was to write a time capsule after each season.  In a few short paragraphs, the essence of the season gone by is recaptured in summary fashion.  We continue this tradition with each reunion.  CLICK HERE to view the time capsule for the 1997 reunion.
