Camp Waupaca - Reunion AT CAMP 1998

Reunion 1998 was held from Friday August 21 to Sunday August 23 on-site at Camp Waupaca in Waupaca, Wisconsin. This reunion was attended mostly by alumni who had not attended the first reunion in 1996.

Reunion attendees tolerated a rainy Saturday afternoon with much reminiscing in the Dining Hall. Bob Mowen led a canoe trip out of camp, with many stories to share about the storm that hit. Larry Silton, an Appleton, Wisconsin resident spent part of Saturday afternoon with the group. There was much anticipation, as Joe Rosen, original owner of Camp Waupaca, was rumored to be coming to the reunion. Due to last minute plans, he was unable to attend.

We found a couple of documents from 1998: one was a newsletter sent to all CWRG members in May, and the other is a letter from then Director Abby Levine trying to sell alumni on sending their kids to camp:

What we did . . .
This was our second attempt at a reunion of this magnitude. We still didn't know from detailed itineraries or anything like that (not like we do now). But we did locate a newsletter that went out in May of '98 that DID include an itinerary for what we planned on doing (see above).

Reunion Wrap-Up (Time Capsule) . . .
One of the time-honored traditions of Camp Waupaca, especially in the Trail's End yearbook, was to write a time capsule after each season.
