Friday August 14 - Sunday August 16!

Our last rental reunion is history! This reunion marked the 75th anniversary (diamond jubilee) of the opening of camp in 1951, and it also marked the 30th anniversary of our historic first post-camp reunion in 1996. But this was the end of the line for Paul Warshauer and Mike Lurie planning these rental reunions at camp. Our thanks go to everyone who helped make this reunion a HUGE success! While we did not get the turnout we had hoped for, it was a memorable experience for everyone who attended.

What we did . . .

Memorial Service . . .
We held our first ever memorial service on Saturday August 15 at the Horseshoe. The setting was very serene, sitting at the Horseshoe, shaded by trees planted by Wayne Towne over 40 years ago, looking out at Lake Stratton, and remembering our camp friends who have passed. Unfortunately, we did not record the memorial service and there are very few pictures as well. But we can show you the service and the list of the departed. Reunion Wrap-Up (Time Capsule) . . .
One of the time-honored traditions of Camp Waupaca, especially in the Trail's End yearbook, was to write a time capsule after each season. In a few short paragraphs, the essence of the season gone by is recaptured in summary fashion. We continue this tradition with each reunion. We are working on the Time Capsule and will post it here when it's fully baked!

After this event, we will continue to gather - informally - in Waupaca every summer. Sometimes these gatherings include a visit to camp if possible.

We are deeply appreciative of all the alumni who came through when the call for donations came in. Our expenses for this reunion included the camp rental fee, insurance, and food services. Tuition alone would barely be enough to cover these expenses and would have drained our bank account. But due to the generosity of the people listed in the table to the right, we were able to have a very successful and tasty event! HIP HIP HOORAY to all of you!!
